The Loveliest Wedding of 2010

The Lovely Jane and the Lovely Colin are getting married! And, almost as exciting, they have a blog about it! It's at http://colandjaneswedding.blogspot.com - take a look.

What's more, there's a design competition for the cover for the garden. In Col's own words...

This competition is open to anyone who would care to submit an entry, we also welcome entries from non-architects. Now maybe the time to prove to the world that you are a dab hand at design!

To design a temporary cover for our garden, to protect us from the sun and the rain, and to contain the heat a little after dark. The key areas to be protected are the patio and the grass; with a second covered area adjacent to the rear entrance to the garden.

more after the jump!

We would like to have three small furnace style garden heaters or fire bowls, of the type shown below, so provision must be made to prevent guests being choked with smoke. It may well be advisable to have adjustable panels to the structure, in case it is a gloriously sunny day but then a suddenly rainy night. The structure may use space in neighbouring gardens if necessary (eg. for tension cables).

Budget
The budget for materials is £500.

Submission
The submission must be a maximum of one sheet of A2, which can be divided (eg. 2 x A3 sheets). It can be submitted digitally, in person when you see us, or posted to 25 Aislibie Road, SE12 8QH

Deadline
The deadline for submissions is 14th February 2010

Further... we welcome any other creative ideas about party layout - if you have a flair for such things. We will also need some man-power to erect this thing once it has been designed, so if you'd like to be involved, please let us know.

Sounds amazing, eh? Comment me if you're interested, and I'll pass you more info.
