On Thursday, whilst I was going through the hell of wait and see, wait and see with my job interview, Laura was in Lytham St Anne's with her friends Claire and Andy. Claire and Andy have been been accepted onto the JET Programme, and were telling Laura all about their plans. They're going to live together in Hokkaido, and earn close to £28k each after tax. It sounds amazing.
"Dave, let's just get out of here and go to Japan together for a year."
And inside me, a switch flipped. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES!
Live abroad. Live with Laura. Travel to Japan. Teach English. Eat with chopsticks together. Share the culture shock. Support each other. See amazing things. Get out of Heron House! Get away from the Big Society and the Conservatives. Put everything important in a bag, and leave the rest behind.
"Alright. Let's do it. Let's go to Japan."
And so it begins!
